TITLE: Retail Sales Account Specialist

DEPARTMENT: Sales

REPORTS TO: Director of Retail Sales

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position manages all aspects of the Company’s business with assigned customer accounts.

REGULAR ASSIGNED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Daily maintenance of assigned retail account.
  • Maintain weekly pricing for two divisions (DSD/RSC), communicating changes as required by customer, meeting required deadlines.
  • Update cost changes in customer ERP system.
  • Maintaining customer codes within JJ McDonnell software.
  • Order entry (JJ) and PO confirmation (Customer).
  • Confirm RSC order fulfilment daily with corporate by required time.
  • Maintain daily item availability in customer ERP system.
  • Notify customers of any daily shortages in a timely manner.
  • Product allocation when necessary (evening).
  • Work with customer Regional Merchandisers and our procurement staff to ensure a successful weekly “Circle of Fish” program.
  • Assist with customer inquiries, DSD/RSC; email and phone calls.
  • Visit DSD stores on rotating schedule and more immediate store visits as necessary.
  • Assist NRSM to prepare for quarterly corporate visits to customers and Annual Customer Business Reviews.
  • Work with the NRSM and procurement team to develop sales and marketing strategies and proposals for retail customer on products and services, conduct market research to determine customer needs and provide information and strategies to introduce to the account.
  • Analyzing current marketplace and feeding back important market and competitive information.
  • Planning, executing, and managing sales strategies.
  • Responding to customer Inquiries.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and product developments that affect retail markets, and further product expansion with customer. Evaluate product mix in terms of meeting customers’ needs.
  • Maintains active and comprehensive customer information files.
  • Communicates effectively with customers to resolve problems, maintain trade terms and support company policies and procedures.
  • Continually seeks new product, information, or service ideas that can be added to the Company’s capabilities to benefit both the customers and the Company.
  • Develops an annual sales forecast for customer accounts accompanied by a customer contact plan that will achieve the forecast.
  • Coordinates and plans all outside sales call activities with the Company’s NRSM.
  • Conducts themselves in manner that reflects positively on the Company at all times including professional business attire and behavior.
  • Willingly participates in any other Company objectives or special projects as required from time to time.
  • Travel to vendors with established relationships (with or without customer) or potential vendors that could be a good partner with JJ and/or customer.

OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Assist with special projects as assigned.
  • Attend conferences and meetings related to industry trends, innovations and education.
Requirements:

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in business or related area of study.
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible, related experience in a position of comparable scope and size to the Company.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Able to transfer attention from one task to another frequently without affecting performance.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Able to utilize tools to measure sales performance.
  • Able to develop sales strategies with the introduction of new products and new accounts.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and time sensitivity.
  • Must have prior experience in a sales environment.
